Pork pie *

Laurie-Anne Généreux

No need to wait until the holidays to cook a pork pie ! With this recipe, you will no longer have the courage to wait until New Year’s Day to eat it again.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground pork

  • 1 onion, finely chopped

  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 cup vegetable or poultry broth

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • 2 pie dough

Preparation

With the rack in the bottom position, preheat the oven to 350°F.

In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium-high heat.

Brown the onion for about 3 minutes.

Add the meat and sauté for 5 minutes.

Stir in broth and spices.

Stir, cover and simmer gently for about 30 minutes, stirring frequently. Set aside.

Apply the pastry to a pie pan.

Garnish with meat mixture.

Cover with the second crust.

Make small incisions on top to allow steam to escape.

Bake for about 30 minutes.

Bon appétit !
